Playing His Own Bogeyman
by Lord Immaculate
One of the most serious aspects of the EU referendum is being largely ignored by both sides of the debate. What happens to the millions of EU migrants already here?
David Cameron is getting away with murder on this subject. He’s been allowed to have his cake and eat it. He’s murdering the damned cake and flicking crumbs at the butler. Our Right Honourable Prime Minister knowingly permits the Remain campaign to nurture the anxiety that millions of EU citizens could be rounded up and deported from this land, an act as un-British and un-21st century as can be – not to mention in contravention of international law* – drawing global condemnation and conceivably prompting sanctions against the UK. Besides swaying gullible minds toward voting for continued membership, the lack of clarification is surely putting the fear of God into many of the EU settlers in question. It’s disinformation of an insidious and ruthless variety, hurting the very people In claims to be concerned for.
Think about it – Dodgy Dave is promoting the idea that unless we let other nations restrain him, either he or his own party intend to kick down the doors of millions of Johnny Foreigners and herd them onto planes, boats and quite possibly giant catapults. The Tories would be under no constitutional obligation to do such a terrible thing (and would have to get the scheme through parliament, which is even more fantastical). Yet journalists are not taking him to task on that outrageous notion.
Ask him! David Cameron, if we the British public choose to cut loose of the EU and, however unlikely it may be, you Remain as Prime Minister, will you order the Home Office to round up and expel millions of EU migrants? If you are not Prime Minister after Brexit, is it probable that the Conservative Party will gather up and banish the millions of EU workers living among us?
He won’t answer at the first time of asking of course. The In camp wants the uncertainty to linger – he’s scoffing another bloody cake – but he must be pressed on this matter until he can no longer hide. What has happened to journalism that a hugely significant and odious standpoint is going unchallenged?
Leave’s leading lights have not helped themselves on this topic. It isn’t good enough merely to deny the insinuation on the occasions it crops up in interviews. The anti-federalists should be singing from the hills that there will be an amnesty on anybody who is already here legally and doesn’t commit any violent crimes. In doing so Boris, Farage, Gove, etc. can disarm one of the more potent weapons of the EUphile propagandists.
This needs to be put to bed before the undecided start deciding. If we’re to lose this battle for the soul of Britain, let’s not lose it because we didn’t speak up for ourselves.

*The United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights; and the European Convention on Human Rights, which is not an EU treaty – we signed it decades before we were co-opted into Jean Mannet’s European superstate project.
